Analyzing Your Own Hair

1. Trichorrhexisnodosa (pronounced: tirk-o-reksis-no-dosah); also known as knotted hair:
Knotted hair suggests that your hair is either dry or brittle. Another reason for this occurring is nodular swelling along the hair shaft. You will find that the brush-like fibers on your hair break off easier. For this condition, I would recommend using pure oils such as mink, jojoba oil and alvacado oil.

2. Trichoptilosis (pronounced trik-op-ti-losis); also known as spilt ends:
This is the technical name given to split ends. The treatment for this problem is to remove the split ends by cutting them. Also, you should keep your hair oiled. Preferably, leave oil in over night for better results.

3. Monilethrix (pronounced mon-il'-thriks); also known as beaded hair:
This is the term used to describe hair that is beaded. Unfortunately, what people do not realize is that your hair will be easier to break off once it's between the swelling-like beads. Moistening treatments would be recommended to the help the scalp.
